今天我們來學習這個俚語表達:

 

 

Mum's the word 

 

 

 

這個詞組很多人會以為“媽媽的話”，其實這個來源于莎士比亞的 Henry VI : "Seal up your lips and give no words but mum."

 

原句的" mum"是人捂嘴后的象聲詞："mummm", 意思就是 “不要聲張，保守秘密，相當于"keep it dark"。

 

來看看這倆個句子：

 

 

1.Don't worry. Mum's the word.

別擔心， 我不會透露半個字給他人的。

 

2.Don't tell anybody about the surprise for Dr. Green. Remember, mum's theword.
